Robert "Bob" Mefford, age 61, of Canton, Missouri, formerly of Quincy, died Monday, January 16, 2023, at 4:10 am in Blessing Hospital.

Bob was born March 13, 1961 in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of Ann Carter Mefford. He married Stephanie Godman on February 11, 2011 in Canton, Missouri.

He graduated from Quincy High School and received his bachelor degree from Quincy College. Bob worked at Sharkey Transportation as an Operations Manager for 27 years.

Family always came first in Bob's life, they meant the world to him. He was a man who always put others before himself. No matter who you were or what situation you were in, Bob would always be willing to lend a hand.

He was a sports enthusiast and loved watching a multitude of sports, including the St. Louis Cardinals. In his younger years, Bob loved fishing, hunting, bowling, and golfing. Bob and Stephanie loved going to the Lake of the Ozarks and spending time on the water. He enjoyed watching and quoting western movies.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by five children, Jeremy (Amy) Mefford of Quincy, Danielle Mefford of Quincy, Kennedy (Geoffry) Newberry of Springfield, MO, Blake (Brie) Newberry of Waterloo, IA, and Tyler (Judy) Godman of Carmi, IL; three grandchildren, Ellie, Max, and Karson Newberry; brother, Tony (Cindy) Mefford of Quincy; and nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, and maternal grandparents.

Inurnment: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois at a later date.

Visitation: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2023 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
