Sybil Kamber

June 08, 1928 - October 28, 2022

Sybil Kamber squeezed every ounce of joy, love and compassion out of her 94-years of life. She passed away at her Quincy home, surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 1:35 pm.

Sybil was born June 8, 1928 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Henry and Jenny Galansky Glickman. She graduated from Allentown High School in 1946.

Sybil married the love of her life, Nanton "Nate" Kamber, in Allentown, PA on June 20, 1948. She and Nate decided in 1964 to move to Quincy, where they ran Kamber Clothes next to Washington Park until they chose to retire in 1984.

Sybil loved to ride her bicycle around town and loved to go swimming or visit a beach, where she would pick up seashells to take home and add to one of the little bowls of shells scattered throughout her home. She also loved to visit garage sales and to crochet. Sybil volunteered at Blessing Hospital, making teddy bears for kids who had to visit the emergency room.

Sybil was a breast cancer survivor and a huge fan of Neil Diamond and Michael Buble. She was also an amazing cook, though not as much for herself, but for those she loved. It was not uncommon for someone to visit Sybil and leave with a frozen brisket, a bag of frozen cookies, a frozen eggplant parmesan, and anything else she felt you needed. That was one of so many ways that Sybil showed her love to you.

Sybil never missed a holiday, a birthday, or an anniversary. She was a member of Temple B'nai Sholom, B'nai Sholom Sisterhood and Blessing Volunteers in Partnership.

Survivors include her two sons, Frederick (Susan) Kamber of Allentown, PA, and Brad (Randi) Kamber of Vonore, TN; her grandchildren, Derrick, Raphael, Jessica and Benjamin (Shikha); and her "Quincy Family": Mary and James Bockenfeld, Jamie and Jason Parrott, Katie and Joshua Ayres and Hudson, Olivia and Charlotte.

In addition to her husband, Nate, Sybil was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved grandson, Devin Kamber, her brother Murray Glickman and her sister, Bernice Harris.

Sybil will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona next to Nate and Devin.
