Elizabeth "Betty" Sorrill Wilson passed away on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 in O'Fallon, MO at the age of 85. Betty was born on July 6th, 1937 in Quincy, IL to Frank and Helen Skirvin Sorrill. She was the youngest of three children; brother, Robert Sorrill and sister, Bonnie Sorrill Tenhouse.

Betty cherished childhood memories of growing up on the family farm. She graduated from Quincy High School, before attending the University of Illinois and graduating with a Bachelor's degree from Washington University. She would go on to obtain a Master's degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

She married Autre "Woody" Wilson on June 25th, 1961. They moved to Bridgeton, MO where they started their family, welcoming son Joseph in 1962. Betty and Woody shared a love for dogs, caring for many Shetland sheepdogs throughout the years. They were together for 36 years before Woody's passing in July of 1997.

Betty was a lifelong educator, and was deeply passionate about the auditory-oral education of deaf students. During her 36-year career as a teacher, she helped found the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, and was a trailblazer in the Special School District and the Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis, MO. She spent many years volunteering for the city of Bridgeton, Therapeutic Horsemanship in Wentzville, and Morning Star Church.

She is survived by her son Joseph Wilson; daughter-in-law Monica; grandchildren Jacob (wife Rebecca), Olivia, and Emma; nephew Arthur Tenhouse (wife Sharon) and their children Katie and Adam Tenhouse; and nieces Marcia Tenhouse and Sally Sorrill Madio (husband Dave); and sister-in-law Shyrel Wilson Dubberley.
