Mary M. Turner

Mary M. Turner, age 76, of Quincy, died Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 5:15 pm in Lewis County Nursing Home.
Mary was born December 10, 1945 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Cyril and Eva Johannes. On March 29, 1966 she married Freddie P. Turner in Jacksonville, IL. She was proceeded in death by her husband.
Mary was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in 1963 and attended St. Peters grade school. As a young adult she worked at Shoppers Fair and Deters Dairy. When her children were in school, she volunteered for the Berrian school PTA and helped with classroom parties and field trips. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren having cared for several of her grandchildren as their daily sitter. She always took great care in finding the perfect card in remembrance of birthdays anniversaries, and holidays. She had a great talent for cooking and had many signature recipes that everyone enjoyed. Through the years she had many friends and acquaintances and never met a stranger. In her younger years, she enjoyed shopping trips to St. Louis, music concerts, and bingo at the area venues. She was always willing to help someone in need when possible and loved holidays, decorating, and joining in the spirit of the seasons.
Survivors include, three children: Brenda (Joseph) Liesen of Quincy, IL; Brian (Sonya) Turner of Quincy; and Jamie (Carrie) Turner of Quincy; 11 grandchildren: Sarah (Albert) Liesen of Kansas City, MO; Sondra Liesen of Philadelphia, PA; Maria Liesen of New York City, NY; Katie Liesen of Fort Collins, CO; Andrew Liesen of O'Fallon, MO; Victoria (Franklin) Williams of Jacksonville, IL; Jacob Turner of Quincy; Jacob (Abby) Schumm of Quincy; Dustin, Stephanie, and Austin Russell all of Quincy; and eleven great grandchildren: Cataleah, Londyn, Theo, Josie, Kyrie, Emery, Brenley, Leyla, Riley, Malina, and Mason; two brothers, Donald (Barb) Johannes, and Daniel (Charla) Johannes, and two sisters, Ruth (Carl) Milhauser and Judy Davies; two sisters in law, Betty Turner and Linda Keating; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by husband, Freddie, her brother Philip and her parents.
Visitation: 9:00 - 11:00 am Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Services: 11:00 am Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Father Zach Samples officiating. Burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park.
