Dean Wiseman, age 88, of Quincy, died on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 9:51 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
He was born January 17, 1933 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Marion and Elizabeth Waterman Wiseman. On June 22, 1957 he married Sue Stinebaugh in Houston, Texas. She survives.
Mr. Wiseman graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1950, Decatur Barber School in 1951 and the University of Missouri in 1955. He received a commission as Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and served on active duty from 1955 until 1958. He honorably discharged from the Air Force reserve in 1971 with the rank of Captain. He was employed by the Marion Wiseman Barber Shop until 1971, Quincy Peoples Savings and Loan until 1987 and First Bankers Trust Company until his retirement in May, 1995. He was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Wiseman served on the Board of Directors of Good Samaritan Home, Board of Directors of Greenmount Cemetery and was Choir Director at Salem church for 12 years. Mr. Wiseman also directed choirs at Elgin Air force base in Florida. He enjoyed singing, reading, painting, family, music and traveling. He treasured the friendships of next-door neighbors, Mike and Judy Veihl and Mike and Mary Herschler. Mr. Wiseman attended exercise classes at Cheryl Loatsch Studio for many years, and he valued the instructions and tips from Cheryl Loatsch, Jill Schuckman, and Lori Cornwell. Mr. Wiseman was also a tennis partner of Vickie and Lowell Glas for many years. He also greatly appreciated the reliable help of Kathy and Michael Pausch.
Survivors include a son, Curt Wiseman and his wife Sue of Fenton, MO; a daughter, Pam Tappe and her husband Jim of Fowler, IL; two grandsons A. J. Tappe of Fowler and Eric Wiseman of Fenton, MO; two granddaughters Emma Wiseman and Lydia Wiseman, both of Fenton, MO; a sister-in-law Sara Chenault and her husband Christopher of Austin, Texas; and nieces, nephews, and cousins in Texas, and a very special cousin, Jolene Fischer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
Services: 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating. Please bring a mask if you plan on attending the service.
Visitation: 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Please bring a mask if you plan on attending the visitation.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery.
