Richard Paul Schwieter, age 82, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 4:27 pm in Sunset Home.
Richard was born January 20, 1938 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Russell and Violet Cruser Schwieter. He married Marcey Morrical on October 4, 1958 in Quincy, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2020.
Richard was a graduate of Quincy High School. He served in the United States Army and in the Army National Guard of Illinois. Richard was employed as a lift truck operator for Moorman Manufacturing Company for more than 25 years.
Richard was a member of the Moorman Quarter Century Club and a member of the Society for the Preservation of Blue Grass Musicians Association. He was an active Blue Grass Musician and performed with the McGee Creek Connection. Richard was an avid Blue Devil basketball fan, and actively supported the Billy Graham Ministries, Lynchburg, VA University and Faith Partners of Lynchburg, VA.
Survivors include his three godchildren, Melissa Slater of Quincy, Lucas Appling of Moberly, MO, and Sadie Appling Brimer of Booneville, MO.
In addition to his wife, Marcey, he was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert and Ralph Schwieter.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Greenmount Cemetery with Rev. Jason Sommerfeldt officiating and military honors conducted by American Legion Post 37.
A public celebration will be held at a later date.
Memorials: University of Lynchburg, VA or a charity of the donor's choice

So sorry for your loss. Rich and Marcey were the best of friends at Bluegrass Festivals. They even would pick me up at times as we traveled to them to work the event. Prayers for the family.
Sorry for your loss, I played music years ago with Rich even went on a trip with them when I was 16 to a bluegrass festival, thoughts and prayers to the family. Gary Wagner
Its never easy saying "goodbye". As we say farewell to our brother-in-law Richard. We pray you have found peace and comfort. We know goodbye is not forever and we will meet again. Rich and Marcey were life time friends. My mother moved across the street from Rich’s family when I was six years old. Marcey and I became close friends in Jr. High. We remained friends always. In 1958, I was maid of honor to Marcey in their wedding. I miss both of you❤️❤️
