Joyce Dutton, age 88, formerly of Atchison, KS, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Bradford Villa in Quincy, IL, with her daughter at her bedside.
Joyce was born February 23, 1932 in Sparta, Wisconsin, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Rooker Hannum. She married Roland Dutton in May of 1954. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2007.
Joyce was an Army wife and lived in many different places due to Roland's duty assignments, including three years in Germany. In 1969, when her husband retired from the Army, they settled in Atchison, Kansas. Joyce also enjoyed sewing and was often called upon by family members for sewing projects. Joyce and Roland were both dog lovers, and rescued many dogs over the years, seldom having any less than three as part of their family.

I’m so sorry to hear about aunt Joyce’s passing. She introduced me to classic Nancy Drew and Anne of Green Gables during one of our visits. She was a fun spunky woman. Deepest condolences.
Sad to learn of Joyce's passing. Both Joyce and Roland were great friends and mentors to me during my early career years. I enjoyed many long talks at their kitchen table in Atchison. I miss their advice and friendship. Prayers and condolences to the Dutton family.
Roland, very sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. Prayers to you and the entire Dutton family during this difficult time. Your old friends, Dick & Pam Summers.
It was our good fortune to have served with Roland (Dutt) Dutton, and to have known Joyce through him. They were wonderful, smart, lively people, and raised a great American family of patriots. Rest in peace, Joyce Dutton; we are better off for having known you and Dutt.
I am so sorry to hear about Joyce. I had the pleasure of working with her and visiting her many times since she lived in Atchison. My sincerest sympathy to her children. She was a great lady and definitely one of a kind.
