Andrew 'Andy' VanSickle, 92, Good Samaritan Home of Quincy, (formerly of #7 Brentwood, Quincy) died Thursday, March 2, 2000 at 4:20am in Blessing Hospital.
He was born December 2, 1907 in Tamms, Illinois, the son of Joseph Albert and Gertrude Norvell VanSickleHe married Howarda Jane Clark February 22, 1931 in Louisville, Kentuky. She survives.
Mr. VanSickle was a 1925 graduate of Tamms High School and attended Indiana University. He was a well known musician and a shoe salesman at Bowman Shoes for 30 years. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local #265, Bodley Lodge #1 A.F.&A.M., Quincy Consistory, Quincy Shrine Club, Ansar Temple, Springfield, Elks Lodge and the Exchange Club.
Survivors include a Son, Andrew Robert VanSickle and his wife Carol, Dunwoody, GA; 3 Grandchildren, Mary Lynn Lowery and her husband Kenneth, Atlanta, GA; Christopher John VanSickle and his wife Paula, Atlanta, GA; Gerard Andrew VanSickle and his wife Angela, Chattanooga,TN.; Great-Grandchildren, Kevin Lowery, Atlanta, GA; Ryan Lowery, Atlanta, GA
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters Emily and Mary.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home conducted by Rev. William Foose. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7PM at the funeral home with an Exchange Club service at 5:30pm, an Elks service at 6:30pm, and a Masonic service by Bodley Lodge#1, A. F. & A. M. at 7pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice andor Shriners Children's Hospital andor Good Samaritan Home.
