H. Lucille Hickman

She was born January 13, 1917 in Beverly, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Cora Bowman Syrcle. On June 19,1938 she married George Stanford Hickman in Louisiana, MO. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1986.
She had her own accounting office in her home and had done Income Taxes for people for 50 years. She had also worked for Mecum Bros. Implement in Bowen, IL for several years before moving to Clayton, IL. She then worked for Bruns Bros. Seed in Camp Point, IL and also the Camp Point Elevator for several years.
Mrs. Hickman was a graduate of Clayton High School and she graduated from Gem City Business College with a bookkeeping certificate.
She was loved by all who knew her and she will be missed deeply. She was a Past Worthy Advisor of Uncle Mac Chapter of Eastern Star in Bowen. She was very active in her church wherever she lived. While in Bowen she started the Junior Worsip service at the Christian Church and while living in Clayton she was organist and on the church board of the Christian Church. She loved to sing and play the piano or organ and loved to help anyone anytime. She was a member of Payson Road Christian Church where she used to play the organ for Sunday services for several years. She was Past President of Illinois Independent Accountant Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Sandi) Crabill, Quincy, IL; 2 sisters, Mrs. Letha Marshall, Galesburg, IL; Mrs. Gertrude Shepherd, Clayton, IL, 2 step grandchildren Jeanna Mowen and her husband Marvin, Fowler, and Roger Crabill and his wife Stephanie, Hannibal, MO and several nieces and nephews,and 8 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Bill Syrcle and two sisters Mrs. Marie Amen and Mrs. Verna Clark and one niece Jane Gooding,
Funeral Services will be 1 pm Monday, January 17, 2000 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Henry Pratt officiating. Burial in Southside Cemetery, Clayton, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4 -7 pm Sunday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association andor Faith Christian Church St. Vincent's Home andor Payson Road Christian Church and/or a charity of the donor's choice.
