Patricia “Pat” Ann Burgtorf, age 80, of Quincy went to her heavenly home on May 26th, 2012 with her family surrounding her.
Pat was born on February 24, 1932 in Quincy, IL, a daughter of the late Wilbert & Edith Peters. She married Theodore “Ted” A. Burgtorf on September 1, 1951 at St. Mary Catholic Church. He survives.
Pat was a 1950 graduate of Notre Dame High School. After graduation she was employed by P & S Clinic until she married. The two lived on several Air Force bases including Chandler, AZ and Sacramento, CA. During the time that Ted was stationed overseas Pat returned to Quincy and worked at Moorman’s. They began their family in 1957. In 1963 they opened Lakeview Tap and Grill. Pat and Ted co-owned the business for 30 years before semi-retiring. She was the Hostess there and thrived on greeting everyone at the restaurant with a smile. During her semi-retirement Pat truly enjoyed traveling with Ted. Their annual Florida trips included seeing friends and family and meeting new faces along the way.
She was part of the family at St. Peter Catholic Church for 53 years & was involved with the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Pat also enjoyed being a regular parish lector. She was of a strong sincere faith and had a heart filled with compassion.
Spending time with her family & friends was high on her list of priorities, being attentive to their every need. She also spent time attending the grandchildren’s many sporting & music events. Her hobbies included bowling, flower gardening, needlework, doing puzzles, reading and writing. She so enjoyed picking strawberries and gathering walnuts and pecans. Nature was her middle name. Holidays and Birthdays were filled with preparing gifts for her family. The treasures were handmade and always prepared with tender loving care.
Pat also enjoyed the company of Fritzie, a family pet, whether on a walk, a chase, or just sitting around. Pat always stopped to smell the flowers.
In addition to her husband, Pat is also survived by 11 children, John Theodore Burgtorf & his significant other Donna Wright of Peyton, CO, Mary Patricia & husband David Mahon, Robin Joan & husband Ted Koetters all of Payson, Rose Leanne & husband John Griffard, Tina Marie & husband David Daniels, Gwen Jeanette & husband Brian Happel, Samuel Scott & wife Kelly, Shari Lynn & husband Jimmy Reckers all of Quincy, Gail Angela & husband Kelly Jansen of Camp Point, Jolie Ann & Brian “BJ” Dannehold of Chatham, Elaine Michelle & husband Mike Coonrod of Liberty. There are 32 grandchildren & 19 great grandchildren; a sister Bea Hermsmeier & husband Art, sister-in-law’s Carlene Peters, Kathy Peters & Marilyn Burgtorf; & numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as several aunts and uncles.
