Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” or “Smitty” Smith, age 56, of Quincy, died Saturday, February 11, 2017, in his home.

Ronnie Smith | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, IllinoisRonnie was born August 17, 1960 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Donald L.and Sandra Davis Smith. He married Marian F. Tarr on July 25, 1987 in Quincy, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 5, 2015.

Ronnie was a 1978 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. He worked at Prairie Farms for 20 years, until his retirement. Ronnie loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed being at his camp, working and relaxing. He liked yard work, gardening and working with cars. Ronnie liked helping his sons with their projects and spending time with his family and his dog, Addy.

Ronnie is survived by two sons, Joshua (Kayla) Smith of Danvers, IL and Jeremy Smith of Ursa, IL; his father, Donald Smith; four brothers, Larry (Mary) Smith, Pete (Ginger) Smith, Terry (Kathy) Smith, and Jerry (Julie) Smith, all of Quincy; four grandchildren, Coralynn Smith of Danvers, IL, Jordan Clingingsmith, and Dallas and Kolton Smith all of Quincy.

In addition to his wife, Marian, Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Smith, and a nephew, Larry Smith.

Services: Private graveside services will be held with Rev. Keith Ehresman officiating.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday February 15, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: American Heart Association or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation
