Regina Rose “Jean” Gentry, age 63, of Quincy, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 11:13 pm in her home.

Regina Gentry | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, IllinoisRegina was born December 5, 1954 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Arlie James and Merle Mae Sapp Rowsey.

Regina attended Quincy High School and was employed at the Quincy Paper Box Company.

Regina had a loving spirit and was a caring, giving and selfless person. She liked going to charities and meeting new people, and she also enjoyed being outside and working in her yard. Regina was always willing to help someone no matter how little she herself had. She dearly loved her family and liked spending time with her children and grandchildren. Regina was an animal lover and held her animals close to her heart too.

Regina met John Lewis in 1981. They never married but stayed together in sickness and in health until she became an angel to look over her family. She is also survived by a son, Christopher Gentry of Quincy; a daughter, Kandy Lewis of Burlington, IA; two granddaughters, Scarlett Gentry and Alexis Blaine; three sisters, her twin, Rebecca Morgan of Quincy, Mary Johnson of Ft. Madison, IA, and Terri Baker of Quincy; and six nieces and nephews, Darren, Jennifer and Monica Baker, all of Quincy, John Habermann of Beardstown, IL, Jody Summers of Alabama, and Arlie James Rowsey III of Alabama.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Arlie James Rowsey, Jr. and Arthur Joe Rowsey.

Memorial Service: 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Visitation: 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

  3. Jean was a wonderful person. She’ll always be remembered not forgotten. She was truly a loving person to all she met. She adored animals. Bless her soul and may she go forward with those who proceeded her as they will welcome her into her new world.
