Phillip G. “Phil” Allensworth, age 85, of Channahon, IL, died Friday, June 8, 2018, at 12:25 pm in St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL.

Phillip Allensworth | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, ILPhil was born April 14, 1933 in New Canton, Illinois, the son of Arlie Sr. and Frances Cleo Saxbury Allensworth. He married Marlene Gosney on December 21, 1968 in Quincy. She survives

Phil was employed as a machinist for Caterpillar for over 30 years until his retirement. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing pool, boating, fishing, and hunting. Most recently his passion was gardening, and he loved sharing his amazing vegetables with family and friends. Phil also enjoyed the time he spent mowing and tending to his lawn. Most of all, Phil loved spending time and visiting with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Marlene, Phil is survived by four children: Leon (Ruth) Allensworth of Maywood, MO; Beth (Jeff Klingele) Allensworth of Quincy; Kevin (Cindy) Allensworth of Minooka, IL; and Byron (Lisa) Allensworth of Channahon, IL; 16 grandchildren: 21 great grandchildren: two brothers: Larry (Darcy) Allensworth of Joliet, IL; and Wayne (Diana) Garner of Maywood, MO: three sisters, Shirley Mueller of Quincy; Dora (Glenn) Schroder of La Grange, MO and Sandra Kay (Don) Mason of St. Charles, MO; a sister-in-law, Alice Allensworth of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Mark and Phillip E. Allensworth; a grandson, Michael Albright; two brothers, Arlie Allensworth, Jr., and Kenneth Allensworth; and two sisters, Thelma Crouch and Nancy McKinney

Services: 10:00 am Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Lance Bonnell officiating.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wednesday June 13, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

Memorials: Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society

  4. Gone but not forgotten,our hearts are with our family in this time of sorrow. Uncle Phil will be remembered fiercely by all who loved him. My father Cameron Cockerill, son of Nancy Mckinney (Allensworth) has asked I let family know he sends his best.
