Joyce Oakley, age 72, of Quincy, died Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 4:45 am in Sycamore Health Care Center.

Joyce Oakely | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, IllinoisJoyce was born January 12, 1945 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Arbine and Dorothy Martin Stevens. She married William “Bill” Oakley on August 12, 1979 in Quincy, Illinois. He survives.

Joyce was a graduate of Central High School in Camp Point, Illinois. She was a Registered Nurse and spent most of her nursing career in the Quincy area, until her retirement in 2004. Joyce was a member of Madison Park Christian Church.

Joyce enjoyed reading and watching her favorite soap opera, “The Young and the Restless”. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She loved her puppy dog, Wrigley, and would sneak him extra treats. Joyce loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Bill, include three children: Angie (Keith) Norris of Quincy, Greg (Kelly) Frese of Edwardsville, IL, and Kim (Daren) Mast of Quincy; 9 grandchildren, Kelsey Mast, Ashley Frese, Stephanie Norris, Erin Norris, Kayla Mast, Emma Frese, Ryan Mast, Drew Frese and Reed Mast; a sister-in-law, Joyce Stevens; and several nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Marty Stevens, and a brother-in-law, Doug Oakley.

Joyce’s family would like to thank UnityPoint Hospice, especially Keaton and Shannon, for the quality and loving care they provided.

Services: 12:00 pm Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Chuck Sackett officiating.

Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Wednesday February 15, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: Madison Park Christian Church or the American Diabetes Association

  4. It saddens my heart to receive the news of Joyce. Her and Bill were dear friends. I knew Bill back in Pittsfield. I met Joyce in 1979. I watched Angie, Gregg n Kim grow up. Now she has no illness n has both her legs. Our prayers to the family’s. Keep in touch.
