Josephine A. “Sue” Schroder, age 66, of 1533 Boy Scout Road, Quincy, died Monday, April 3, 2017, at 10:59 pm in Blessing Hospital.

Josephine Schroder | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, ILSue was born October 1, 1950 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Earl Clyde and Wilma Loretta Reed Bryant. She married Jerry Schroder on January 1, 1980 in Quincy, Illinois. He survives.

Sue was a graduate of John Wood Community College. She had worked as a Registered Nurse at the Illinois Veterans’ Home for over 15 years. Sue regularly attended The Crossing, and worship was an important part of her life. Sue was a cancer survivor. She beat both breast cancer and lung cancer. Most of all she loved her family. She was the back bone of the family for many years, and she lived for her children and grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Jerry, include three children, Sherri (John) Pate of Peoria, IL, Tonja (John) Lang of Quincy, and James Schroder of Quincy; 13 grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Eason Pate, Eddie Radel, Michael Lang, Miri Greafen, Jacob Lang, J.C. Lang, Gage, Brendan, Zoey Mae, Jaxson, and Maxx Schroder, and Noah Bryant; a great-grandson, Alex Greafen; three adopted daughters, Hannah (Chris) Hultz of Palmyra, MO, Ronna Schroder, and Kattarina Jones, both of Quincy; a brother, Clyde Bryant of Payson, IL; a sister, Judy Huff of Quincy; an aunt, Virginia Stanbridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Earl, Joseph, Kit, and Gary Bryant; and a sister, Betty Schmitt.

Services: 6:00 pm Friday, April 7, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. John Mitchell officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Friday April 7, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

    I will miss our Saturday morning talks, prayers, laughs, tears and the secrets that only we knew. The advise we gave each other and even the disagreement’s, we would talk our way through them and then laugh about them. I remember how you appreciated Joe fixing things around the house for you. He is still talking about going to the garage sales with us – he loved them as much as we did. You are in a better place now no more suffering or stress.   10. Please accept our condolences. Sue Sue was was a great lady. We considerered her part of our family. She took great care of Devin. She was like an aunt to the rest of our kids. They still have great memories of the late night card games and pizza. I’m sure she is now resting with our great God. Rest In Peace dear friend❤️

  15. Cant believe that your gone and way to soon. Its a big shock your one geck of a fighter always have been and always will be. Your an awesome grandmother to the max. You been an awesome mother to your daughter and mother in law to Rhonda Hanna. Your memories will be carried for a life time. Most of all you are were and always will be an awesome friend wife mother and grandmother and partner in crime. Many hearts weigh Heavy at this time. But you will be an awesome angel in the heavens above. Youll be truly missed now forever and always. Your one food lady and may you rest in peace you will be truly watching over your loved ones now as you always wanted too.
