Evelyn M. Higdon, age 95, of Quincy, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 8:05 a.m. in Good Samaritan Home.

Evelyn M. Higdon | Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors, Quincy, ILEvelyn was born July 10, 1921 in Perry, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Bertha Butler White. She married Ralph Higdon on June 9, 1938 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1995.

Evelyn was a graduate of Perry High School. She had worked for both St. Mary’s Hospital and Blessing Hospital as a Nurses’ Aide. She retired in 1982. Evelyn was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include: four children: Dorothy (Alvin) Obert of Camp Point, IL; Beverly (Kermit) Koontz of Quincy; Patricia (Richard) Tullock of New London, MO; and Alan (Leslie) Higdon of Tulsa, OK; 22 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Hancock of Palmetto, GA; and a brother, Harry (Karen) White, Jr. of Perry, IL.

In addition to her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Rains officiating.

Burial: Griggsville Cemetery

Visitation: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: Baptist Children’s Home of Carmi, IL
