Evelyn Gunther Pieper, age 92, of Quincy, died on Friday July 6, 2018 at 8:25 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.

She was born on August 23, 1925 in Quincy, the daughter of Oscar Carl and Emma Bauner Gunther of Camp Point, IL.

Evelyn was confirmed into her faith at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Coatsburg, IL, and she graduated from the Class of 1943 of Maplewood High School in Camp Point, IL. She was also a graduate of Gem City Business College in 1943.

Evelyn was a 30 year employee of Gardner-Denver Company, retiring in 1988. After retirement, she spent many hours volunteering, especially at the Blessing Hospital Tea Room, and at Good Samaritan Home.

Survivors include two sons: Steve (Sandra) Pieper of Quincy; and Jeffrey Pieper of Springfield, IL; two grandsons: Matthew Pieper; and James (Jayne) Pieper of Quincy; four great grandchildren: Tyler, Austin, Logan, and Tristan, all of Quincy; and several nices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Robert (Ruea) Gunther; and Dale (Nancy) Gunther; and a nephew, James D. Gunther.

Evelyn has been cremated without services, as per her wishes.
