Edith Elizabeth Pierce, age 80, of 3434 Lewis Drive, Quincy, died Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 7:55 am in Blessing Hospital.

Edith Elizabeth Pierce | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home – Quincy, IllinoisShe was born October 2, 1923 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Ida Schumacher Venghaus. On December 10, 1960, she married Floyd M. Pierce in Quincy. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1990.

Mrs. Pierce attended Quincy High School and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and Eagles Auxiliary. She had worked at Litteral Mfg. and was an office worker at Foam Air Packaging and at Tuscarora Plastics. She retired in June 1986. She enjoyed playing cards, attending card parties, working puzzles, and was an avid reader. She was an active volunteer at Trinity Church and the Eagles and also worked as an election judge.

Survivors include a son, William A. Irvine and his wife Marci, Springfield, IL; stepson, Larry E. Pierce and his wife Trudi, Middletown, IA; stepdaughter, Judy Krone and her husband Jim, Arvada, CO; 5 step grandchildren, Darcy Thornton and her husband Matt, Clinton, IA; Laura Hinesley and her husband Tal, Middletown, IA; Aimee Krieger, Burlington, I A; Debbie Lansey, Golden, CO; Rhonda Ballard, Wheat Ridge, CO; 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Vera Uppinghouse, Quincy; 2 nieces, Evelyn Uppinghouse, Quincy and Marian Williams, Pensacola, FL; and 2 nephews, David Uppinghouse and his wife Barbara, Quincy and Larry Uppinghouse and his wife Terry, Ogden, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday morning at 10 am in Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. Timothy A. White officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ.
