Dr. David B. Drennan

Dr. David B. Drennan, age 85, of Quincy, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 8:25 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.

Dr. David Drennan | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, ILHe was born on November 6, 1932 in Jacksonville, Illinois the son of Dr. George L. and Marjorie Black Drennan. On July 21, 1962 he married Jane H. Hessler in Webster Groves, MO. She survives.

He was a 1950 graduate of Jacksonville High School. Dr. Drennan served in the U.S. Naval Reserves during the Korean War from 1952 until 1953. He graduated from Grinnell College in 1956 and from Saint Louis University Medical School in 1960. He worked as a physician at Quincy Medical Group for 45 years until his retirement in 2004. Dr. Drennan was a Diplomat for the American Board of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

In his spare time, Dr. Drennan enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, traveling, and fishing.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three children: Thomas L. (Leesa) Drennan of Farmington, MO; Kathryn L. (James) Carver of Quincy; and John D. (Shelly) Drennan of Brighton, CO; and three grandchildren: Megan Drennan of Moberly, MO; Emilee Carver; and Drennan Carver, both of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dr. James A. Drennan.

Memorial Service: a private service will be held at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 5, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: Blessing Foundation for Hospice or American Cancer Society.
