Dora Mae Schroder, age 79, of La Grange, Missouri died on Saturday, December 29, 2018, surrounded by her family in La Grange.

Dora Schroder | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, IllinoisDora was born March 25, 1939 in New Canton, Illinois, the daughter of Arlie and Frances Cleo Saxbury Allensworth. She married Glenn Dale Schroder on March 26, 1955 in La Grange, Missouri. He survives.

Dora was a homemaker who was devoted to her family, and she had a special love for all of her grandchildren. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. Dora was an amazing cook and hostess who loved to entertain her family and friends. She loved writing poetry and was a published poet. Dora was an accomplished pianist who played by ear from a young age, learning from her dad.

Dora was a lifelong member of the Eagles Lodge in Canton, Missouri. She helped organize the first Head Start in La Grange and she completed her Certified Nurses Assistant training in 1984.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Dale Schroder, Sr. of La Grange, MO; three children, Glenn “Dale” Schroder, Jr., Vickie Luann Schroder and Jackie Rene (Steven) Eston, all of La Grange; nine grandchildren, Shawn Lee Schroder, Kristel Marie (Blake) Bratten, Chassidy Mae (Todd Borgstadt) Schroder, Brandon Dion Schroder, Phillip Tremayne (Megan) Bradshaw, Terrell Duray (Robyn) Bradshaw, Natasha Nicole (Tranell) Humphrey, Londale Marshawn Schroder, Pernell Duran (Ida) Schroder; a step grandson, Zeavon (Heather) Eston; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Kay (Don) Mason of St. Charles, MO, and Shirley Mueller of Quincy, IL; two brother, Larry (Darcy) Allensworth of Joilet, IL, and Wayne (Diana) Garner of Ewing, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Christine Marie Schroder, and a great-grandson, Braedyn Bradshaw, three brothers, Phillip, Arlie Jr., and Kenneth Allensworth, and two sisters, Thelma Crouch and Nancy McKinney.

Services: 10:30 am on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Donna Reid and Rev. Paul Kinney officiating.

Burial: Maywood Cemetery, Maywood, MO

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: Maywood Cemetery or the Alzheimer’s Association
