Bobbi Lou Porter, age 66, of Quincy, died Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 3:52 am in her home.

Bobbi Lou Porter | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, IllinoisBobbi was born July 7, 1951 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Robert E. and Billie Lou Byrd Kern. She married Larry “Tom” Porter on February 7, 1982 in the Candlelight Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2014.

Bobbi was a 1969 graduate of Quincy High School. Bobbi worked with her husband at Porter Concrete for 25 years, until his retirement in 2000. She was then employed in the office at Refreshment Services Pepsi, until her retirement in 2009.

Bobbi was a member of the Sunset Home Auxiliary and had volunteered in past at the old Tea Room at Blessing Hospital. Bobbi served on the state and local boards of the American Cancer Society. She also volunteered at the Sunset Home Ice Cream Shop and Horizons Soup Kitchen. Bobbi was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed Jeff Gordon when he raced. She was also a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.

Bobbi’s love for God and her family came before everything else. Her faith and love of Christ was present in all she did, and Bobbi was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Parish.

Survivors include her long-time love, Pete Steinkamp of Quincy; a sister, Sandra (Ed) Beckert of Lees Summit, MO; a brother, Ted (Karen) Kern of Colchester, IL; a step-daughter, Kelly (Bill) Porter Wingerter of Perryville, MO; three step-grandchildren, Ashlee, Brittany and Madison Wingerter, all of Perryville, MO; three nieces and nephews, Robert “Robbie” (Madison) Beckert of Lees Summit, MO, TJ Kern of Macomb, IL, and Melinda (Bryan) McFadden of Blandinsville, IL; and her beloved dachshund, Sadie Sue.

Bobbi was preceded in death by her husband, Larry “Tom” Porter, and her parents.

Bobbi was cremated according to her wishes.

  1. I just heard about this if only I had known. Bobbi was a very special lady and my friend. We spoke a lot when ever we met. She was the most cheeriest lady I have ever met in my life. Always greeting me with a smile. I always admired her ever since I met her when I was in 7th Grade at Quincy Junior High. I also knew her sister Sandy and I never forgot her. Bobbi and I talked a lot of Sandy. A very Loving caring Family. God Bless your soul Bobbi, fly with the rest of the Angels in Heaven. I’ll never forget you.

  3. Bobbie was one of the most kind gracious people I had the pleasure of calling my friend. We spoke on the phone the Tuesday and Wednesday before God took her home. We made plans to get together on Thursday . I am so thankful we had the time we had together by phone. She so loved her God and the time she spent with her church friends and family. Pete , Bobbie was so happy that you and she had found each other and sang praises about you and how happy she was because of you. RIP my friend. My deepest condolences to her family and friends .

  7. This lady was one of a kind. Not only a long time friend of my mother Susan Baird/Pettit/Goodwin but I had the privilege to get to know her the past four years. She started coming in to star nails where I work found out whose daughter I was. And never stopped coming in for me to do her nails. Her fav nail color by OPI black cherry chutney. I also had the chance to meet her sweet Pete such a nice man. I will miss you and hearing all the fun stories of you and my moms adventures and how you thought so highly of her as she did you Bobbi. I wish we could have got to hang out at the pool at my parents and have those coronas we were talking about. You were truely a beautiful lady inside and out. To your family my families prayers are with you all in this hard time, just know she was a light in a dark place the smile to someones frown and heaven gained the puriest diamond.   8. I will miss Bobbi. She was a brite light! So sorry for the family ‘s loss. Pete so glad you 2 had your time together. Pete also glad you were there for her as she went to heaven. She loved her church, she loved Will and his family, she loved Sadie, She loved her friends. Bobbi loved and was loved!
