Norma J. Jackson, of 2608 Kings Pointe, a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Blessing Hospital.

Norma was a native of Quincy, born on October 28, 1935 to Henry and Geneva Orange Fields. She graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1953 and received an Associate Degree from John Wood Community College.

Mrs. Jackson had a long career in the community which began as a Supervisor at Motorola. She also held a supervisory position at Meals on Wheels, and eventually became an account executive at WGEM-TV. Norma was a Case Manager at Two Rivers for many years, which is also where she retired to spend more time with her husband and family.

Volunteerism was also important to Mrs. Jackson. She served as a board member at Sunset Home as well as the Quincy Public Library, and passed her love of volunteerism onto her children and grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jackson loved to travel with her husband, read, spend time with her family and relished spoiling her grandchildren. She loved life, laughter, a spirited conversation, and was lovingly chided by her children for being such a skillful bargain shopper.

Norma is survived by her husband, Herb Jackson, and five children, Victoria (Kevin) Williams of Joliet, IL, Keith Jackson (Sabreena) of Chicago, IL, Yvette Ringgold (Tony) of Fox Lake, IL, Jay Jackson of Waterloo, IA, and Kelly Jackson of Sacramento, CA; 8 grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Dr. Dale Jackson (Vivian) of Coralville, IA; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Fields of Kansas City, MO, Marie Jackson of Kalamazoo, MI, and Chizura Jackson of LaMirada, CA;, cousins, Catherine Sanders of Santa Rosa, CA, and Steve Sanders of Quincy; nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Henry Fields, Jr. Her death closed a chapter, her story lives on in the hearts of all those who knew her.

Services: 10:00 am Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Orville B. Jones officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation: 9:00-10:00 am Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
