Lloyd Henry Young

Lloyd Henry Young, also known as "Slick" or "Snuffy", age 88, of 720 Sycamore, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at 10:50 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.

He was born June 15, 1919 in Pilot Grove, Illinois the son of Henry and Ethel Long Young. On July 14, 1944 he married Della Mae Reed in Burnside, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1994.

Lloyd was employed by Vidas Transportation as a truck driver. He drove the church bus at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. He also drove buses to and from the Christian camp in Peoria. In his spare time he helped to build Columbus Road Baptist Church in Quincy and Faith Baptist Church in Camp Point. Lloyd also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include seven grandchildren: Bruce Harmon and his wife, Fran, of Fowler; Penny Sue Hedge and her husband, Russell, of Olympia, WA; Margie Lee Terwelp of Fowler; Pam Kay Harmon of Quincy; Kenneth Wayne Harmon and his wife, Sherry, of Quincy; Kelly Dean Sprague and his wife, Robin, of Quincy; and Sherry Lynn Platz of Quincy; 19 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth H. Pearce and his wife, Angie, of LaHarpe, IL; and his sister, Lois Brown of Burlington, IA.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons: John Reed and Lloyd Wayne Harmon; a daughter, Judy Marie Sprague; a grandson, John, in infancy; a brother, Charles LeVie; and his parents.

Graveside Services: Friday, March 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Camp Creek Dunkard Cemetery with the Rev. Colby Combs officiating.
