Sandra McGrury, 815 Jonathan Lane, Quincy, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2008
at 1:40 a.m. at Blessing Hospital. She was born January 6, 1941 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Louis and Vera Strothoff Hoffman. On January 30,1965, she married Jack C. McGrury in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2007. Mrs. McGrury worked at The Illinois Department of Employment, Motorola, and E. L. Smith and Sons. She loved her dog Stinky and enjoyed gardening and crafts. She was a member of All Saints Parish. Survivors include a son, Jack C. McGrury and his wife Felicia, of Alsip, IL; two daughters, Sheila McLearen and her husband, Ken, of Chicago; Cathy Elledge and her husband, Greg, of Quincy; two brothers, Jerry Hoffman and his wife, Jean, of Brausfield, TX; Preston Williams and his wife, Tammy, Madison, MO; two sisters, Jeannie Wood, of Madison, MO; and Connie Ayer and her husband Mike, of Madison, MO; five grandchildren: Jack McGrury and his wife, Jackie, of Alsip, IL; Shannon and Kenny McLearen, Jr., of Chicago; Meagen and Melissa Elledge, of Quincy; five great-grandchildren: Kayla McGrury of Alsip, IL; Antonio and Alex Garcia of Midlothian, IL; Gage Elledge and Kendall Batterton of Quincy; three adopted boys, Sam Hively, of Mendon, IL; Rich Hively, of Quincy; and Gunner Hively, of Quincy; nieces & nephews; and a special friend, Tim Betts. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Maryann Brown. Services: Friday, March 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fowler, Illlinois.
