She was born October 7, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of William Price and Helen Marie Schild Smith. On June 8, 1946 she married Harold Russell "Timer" Irvin in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2000.
She was a graduate of Quincy High School, and was employed at Motorola until they closed. She was employed by Methode Electronics until her retirement in 1988. Mary was a member of Faith Christian Church and the local Ex-POW Group. Mary was an avid reader and traveler.
Survivors include her son, Bill Irvin and wife Erma of Liberty, IL; her daughter, Anita McCune of Quincy; 6 grandchildren, Tammy, Mark and Matthew McCune, all of Quincy, Travis Irvin and wife Kim of Jacksonville, IL, and Aaron and Troy Irvin of Liberty, IL; a brother, David Smith and wife Connie; two sisters-in-law, Betty Smith and Betty Martin, both of Quincy; 5 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander McCune of LaHarpe, IL, Emily McCune of Hamilton, IL, Tarren Steffen of Hamilton, IL, and Sean McCune of Quincy, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Harold Kent, and a brother, Dick Smith and a sister, Lois.
Services: 10:00 am Tuesday at Hansen-Spear with Rev. Henry Pratt and Brother Ken Worcester officiating. Burial will be in New Loraine Cemetery.
Visitation: 5-7 pm Monday at Hansen-Spear.
