Wilma Belle Brunenn

Wilma Belle Brunenn, age 83 of Sunset Home died Tuesday (March 18, 2008) at 3:25 pm in Blessing Hospital.

She was born February 19, 1925 in Hancock County, Illinois the daughter of Wesley H. Burton and Nellie I. Barnett Burton. On April 4, 1943 she married Leo Brunenn in Palmyra, Missouri, He preceded her in death on October 28, 1985.

Wilma was a lifelong historian and genealogist in southern Hancock County and was published in 1982 with the book, "Pioneers of the Prairie", a history of southern Hancock County. She was also devoted to restoring forgotten cemeteries. Wilma was a member of West Point Christian Church. She came to Quincy from West Point in 1986.

Survivors include 3 sons, Lanny R. Brunenn of Hamilton, Illinois, Dennis L. Brunenn and his wife Elaine of Quincy, and Jeffrey G. Brunenn and his wife Lisa of Hamilton, Illinois, a daughter, Donna L. Eisenbeiss and her husband Daniel of Quincy, 9 grandchildren, Eric Smith and his wife Mandy of Quincy, Tony J. Brunenn of Tucson, AZ, Douglas B. Smith of Quincy, Terry J. Brunenn and his wife, Lou Ann, of Plano, TX, Jennifer L. Foster and her husband Chuck of Quincy, Denise M. Brunenn of Quincy, Tad J. Brunenn and his wife, Tara, of Warsaw, Illinois, Ryan J. Brunenn of Hamilton, Illinois, Lucas J. Brunenn of Hamilton, Illinois,, and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Services: Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Hansen-Spear with the Rev. Bruce Willard officiating. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery.

Visitation: Friday from 4:30-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
