Robert M. Bluhm, age 87, of 2002 Cherry Lane Estates, and formerly of Clayton died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 11:05 am in Blessing Hospital.

He was born June 30, 1920 in Herkimer, KS the son of George and Anna Dierking Bluhm. On October 8, 1944 he married Larine E. Flesner at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden, IL. She preceded him in death June 30, 1994.

He served in WWII in the Army Air Corps, 15th Air Force, 451st Bomber Group in the European Theatre. He received the Purple Heart, the Air Medal with 3 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, and the European- African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with one silver battle star.

He worked at the Illinois Veterans Home and for the Secretary of State at the Driver's License Bureau. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. John, the Order of the Purple Heart, American ex-POW's, Golden American Legion, and Golden Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his son Gene R. Bluhm and wife Nancy of Quincy, IL; a daughter, Phyllis Bluhm Erber and husband Robert of New Albany, IN; 4 grandchildren, Courtney Erber of Pittsburg, PA, Jeffrey Erber of New Albany, IN, Randy and Laura Bluhm, both of Quincy. and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Alvin, Walter, and Victor Bluhm and 2 sisters, Edna Bluhm and Rose Parn.

Services: 10:00 am Monday, March 31, 2008, at Lutheran Church of St John with the Rev. Harold J. Bender, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Golden Memorial Gardens.

Visitation: 4-7 pm Sunday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and 9-10 am Monday at the Church.

Memorials made to Lutheran Church of St. John in his name would be appreciated.
