Jerry Aamoth |
Peacefully surrounded by his family, with a smirk on his
face, Jerry Aamoth passed away at Blessing Hospital on March 13, 2008. A
brother, fat her,
husband, grandfather, and friend spent 67 years blessing the lives of
those around him. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Wayne and Geraldine Aamoth and brother, Doug Aamoth. He will be remembered by his wife, Debi; his children, Michelle Wellman, Julie Shepard, Derek Aamoth, Kayt and Maggie Norris, his grandchildren, Brandon, Lauren, Reagan, Jordan and Grace, brother Bob Aamoth, as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Born September 9, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa, Jerry received his Masters from Iowa State University and started his career with Adams County Mental Health Center. With over 40 years in the field of Psychology, Jerry taught Psychology classes at Quincy University at various times over the years. As a clinical psychologist he had an active private practice in Hannibal, Mo and was benevolently dedicated to his patients. He was a member of The Elks Lodge, the Democratic Party, The Lake Darling Old Man's Club, and a devoted Cubs Fan. Jerry enjoyed gardening with his grandchildren and fishing with his family and friends. Always one to enjoy a good spar or debate, Jerry is known by many for his passionate letters to the editor. Jerry has made an impact on a great many lives, especially in the field of mental health and will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed. Memorials may be made to Transitions of Western Illinois. The family would like to thank Dr. Raymond Smith and his staff at The Cancer Center for their diligent and compassionate care, the nursing staff of 5400 at Blessing Hospital for their tenderness and wisdom during his final stay and also the family members and friends for their visits, prayers, good food and support.
