She was born in her parents' home on December 27, 1921 in Allegan County, Michigan, the daughter of Olin Lloyd and Bernice Marie Johncock Brown. On September 18, 1942 she married Paul Wesley Brown in Plainwell, Michigan. In 2005 they celebrated 63 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2006.

Mrs. Brown was a 1939 graduate of Plainwell High School in Plainwell, Michigan. In 1940 she graduated from Parson's Business School in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She worked as a secretary in the Plainwell High School Superintendent's Office from 1940 until 1941. After 1941 she worked as a secretary for the Michigan Paper Co. until her marriage in 1942. She took school census for 15 years in the Plainwell School District. Mrs. Brown lived near Plainwell, MI until 1966 when she moved to Manistee, MI. She moved to Quincy in 1968. She and her husband resided in Pharr, TX for 11 winters.

Mrs. Brown was a former member of the Women's City Club, the Quincy Country Club, and the Quincy Study Club. She did volunteer work for the Quincy Red Cross and Blessing Hospital. Her hobbies included golfing, bowling, dancing, gardening, sewing, bird watching, and traveling. She dearly loved her grandcat, Scottie.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet L. Brown of Quincy, IL; and a sister, Marjorie Laverack and her husband, Kenneth, of Plainwell, MI.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Services : a memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Swigart officiating. Inurnment will be Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell, Michigan at a later date.

Visitation: Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
