Robert O. "Sonny" McFarland , age 76 of
2725 N. 5th St., died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 2:30 a.m. in Blessing
Hospital.![]() He was born October 29, 1931 in Barry, Illinois the son of Raymond and Bertha Fitch McFarland. On August 16, 1959 he married Gaylene Fox in Moberly, MO, she survives. Robert was a graduate of Quincy High School. After High School he went to work at at Nieman Food Center. He proudly served in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning home he worked many years at Motorola until its closure. Robert then worked at Chaddock School until 1989, and later, Maas Homes and Garage Co. in Liberty until his retirement. He was a member of the Quincy Seventh-day Adventist Church. He loved collecting antiques and coins. Survivors in addition to his wife are; a son, Todd McFarland of Burtonsville, MD; a daughter, Tammy Seibel and her husband Teryl of Rogers, AR; a grandson, Taylor Seibel of Rogers, AR; step grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Seibel of Chanute, KS; a sister, Lois McFarland of Lewistown, MO and a half-sister, Dorita LaLond and her husband Pat. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Sean Ray McFarland in infancy, and a sister Elma Philpott Services: Friday, July 18, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Adrian Amarandi officiating. Visitation: Thursday, from 4-7 p.m in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
