She was born June 18, 1918 in Quincy the daughter of William F. and Matilda Holtman Schutte. She married Harlan Lear in California. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lear had been employed by Quincy Speaker and Quincy Paper Box. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a quilter.

Survivors include: a daughter, Pat Hindbaugh and her husband, Butch, of Quincy; two sons: Larry Lear and his companion, Cheryl Hoener, of Quincy; and Jerry Lear and his wife, Cheryl, of Quincy; nine grandchildren: Shawn Houghton and her husband, Joe, of Quincy; Tracy Beasley and her companion, Devin Davis, of Camp Point, IL; Angela Clevenger and her husband, Paul, of Fowler, IL; Jon Lear and his companion, Kathy Crossman, of El Dara, IL;; Amanda Lear and her companion, William Austin, of Quincy; Christopher Lear and his companion, Brooke Calvert, of Quincy; Brandy Lear and her companion, Jared Ludwig, of Maywood, MO; Jennifer Blanchett of Kansas; and Kristen Forrest of Quincy; 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Harold Schutte and his wife, Betty, of Quincy; Lester Schutte and his wife, Irene, of Quincy; and Richard Schutte and his wife, Irma, of New Canton, IL; two sisters-in-law: Marion Schutte of Quincy and Marion McGlaughlin and her husband, Lowell, of Quincy; numerous nieces and nephews and lots of freinds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; two brothers, Junior and Russell Schutte; and two grandsons: Alan Lawrence Hindbaugh and Troy Edward Hindbaugh

Services: Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy A. White officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation: Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
