Forrest E. Lane, age 92 of
Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center, died at St. Vincent's Home on
Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 6:50 p.m.
![]() He was born October 9, 1915 in Brown County, Illinois, the son of George W. and Dorothy Donna Thomas Lane. He was a 1936 graduate of Brown County High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Lane was employed by Harry Wilson, Contractor, as a carpenter for many years in the Timewell and Mt. Sterling area. He was later employed as a sales person in Mt. Sterling for seven years at the Gamble store. He was a former member of the American Legion and a long-time member of First Southern Baptist Church of Quincy. Survivors include several nephews and cousins and good friend Mary Renard and her family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilma Kane. Services: held at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, with the Reverend Tom Rains officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Sterling City Cemetery. Military rites by the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374. Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
