He was born August 23, 1945 in Hannibal, Missouri the son of Earl J. and Wilma Coates Jansen. On March 4, 1977 he married Bonnie VanMeter in Quincy.

He was a 1963 graduate of Liberty High School and attended IBM computer trade school in St. Louis. He worked in many factories in the Quincy area and the Quad Cities. He was owner of Jansen Machine and Tool in Liberty for the last 20 years. He was proud of his work in labor unions. He trained Brittany Spaniels for field trials and quail hunting. He enjoyed coaching his children's baseball teams and in his younger years he enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors including his wife are 3 sons, Brett Jansen of Payson, Brian Jansen of Quincy, and Dane Jansen of Gillespie, IL; 2 daughters, Robin Miles and her husband Rick, MN and Kara Jansen of Fowler; 3 grandchildren, Dustin Tanner of Quincy, Casey Sidener of Pheonix, AZ, and Gavin Jansen of Payson; a brother, Mike Jansen and his wife Rose of Liberty; a sister, Barbara Pavlovic and her husband Milon of Fowler. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Larry Wayne Jansen

Services: Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Father Jeff Stone officiating.

Visitation: Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 4 - 7 p.m.with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials: To The American Heart Association in his name would be appreciated.
