Thetis Irene Sutherland,
age 98, formerly of 1733 Oak, Quincy, and Boynton Beach,
Florida, died on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 7:25 a.m. in Good
Samaritan Home.
She was born January 5,
1910 in Marion, Illinois, the daughter of Arlie and Viola Moake
Sinks. On May 2, 1931, she married Guy Elliott in Benton,
Illinois. He preceded her in death December 11, 1970. On
September 13, 1975, she married Lysle Sutherland in Peoria,
Illinois. He preceded her in death August 2, 2002.
She was a 1929 Marion High
School graduate, and moved from Marion to Quincy in 1944. She
was assistant secretary and treasurer at Modern Dairy Company in
Quincy. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Quincy,
the Typhena Sunday School Class and the Women's Bible Class. She
was a member of the First Baptist Church in Delray Beach,
Florida. She was a former member of the Women's City Club in
Quincy and Boynton Beach, Florida.
Survivors include a son,
Robert Lee Elliott and his wife Nancy, Quincy; three
grandchildren: Christopher Elliott; Wendy Sutherland and her
husband Steve; Drew Elliott and his wife Zane; four
step-grandchildren: John Parke and his wife, Donna; Lori Post
and her husband Charles; Evan Parke and his wife Andrea; and
Dean Parke and his wife, Liza; a brother, Arlie Sinks of Marion,
IL. five great grandchildren Shelby, Kelley and Ian Sutherland
and Travis and Paige Elliott; six step-great grandchildren:
Jacob and Blake Parke: Alex, Lauren and Claire Post, and
Nathaniel Parke: and a niece Cheryl Richardson and her husband,
Edwin. In
addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her
parents, a brother Bill and a sister Jewel
Funeral Services:
Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Hansen-Spear Funeral
Home with the Chaplain Steve Disseler officiating. Burial in
Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation: Saturday from
9:30-11 am at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
