Lillian M. Colvin, age 99, of
North Adams Home, formerly of 101 North 4th, Quincy, died
Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 6 am in Blessing Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1908 in Philadelphia, Missouri, the
daughter of Henry B. Epker and Katherine Margaret Luken Epker.
On August 29, 1929, she married Earl Larry Colvin in Hannibal,
Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1973.
She was employed by International Shoe Co. in Hannibal and
Quincy for 40 years and later worked as a nurse's aide for 10
years at the Illinois Veterans' Home. Mrs. Colvin was a member
of Central Baptist Church, The Women's Bible Class, Coronada and
had been a deaconess of the church. She was also a member of the
Order of the Eastern Star, Alpha Chapter #109. She was an active
volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 10 years.
Survivors include a son, Carl C. Colvin and wife Jan, Quincy;
4 grandchildren, Cynthia Steinman and husband Lee, New London,
Missouri; Vicky Steinkamp and husband Randy, Foristell,
Missouri; Karen Dunn and husband Greg, Makanda, Illinois; Carol
Albertazzi and husband Brad, Auburn, California; 1 step
granddaughter, Lynn DeBoer and husband Ed, San Jose, California;
13 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, and 2 step
grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents, a
daughter-in-law Joan Rossmiller Colvin, a son Richard E. Colvin
and his wife, Gwen, a son John Colvin, a grandson Shawn
Steinman, a grandson-in-law Brad Townsend and three brothers and
seven sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 pm in the Hansen-Spear
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ivan Grueter officiating. Inurnment
will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hannibal, MO. The family
will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 7 pm at the
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial to the Quincy Humane
Society or a charity of the donor's choice in her name would be
appreciated. |
