Mildred R. Hathaway, 94, of Bradford Villa died April 23
(10:35 pm). S he
was the mother of Mary Lou McGinnis and had moved to Quincy in 2001
where she lived with her daughter for 31/2 years before moving to
Bradford Villa. There she was lovingly cared for and watched over by
Jeannie Hattemar and all her staff. Her family is very grateful for that
special care. Middy, as she was known, was born May 4, 1913 in Danville
to Swedish parents, Frederick and Emelia (Johannson) Olson. She married
Lewis F. Hathaway in 1930 and the couple moved to Rossville where they
provided a wonderful life for their family until Lewis' death in 1963.When the winters got too long for her in Illinois she moved to Largo, Florida, where she lived for 22 years and enjoyed friends and travel and loved the game of golf. She played several times a week until the age of 87 and had 4 holes -in-one in her lifetime. Travel was also a great passion and she made over 16 trips to many countries on 6 continents. She was a member of Anona Methodist Church in Largo and had attended Faith Presbyterian Church in Quincy. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and her son-in-law Alex. She is survived by her daughter Mary Lou McGinnis, Quincy, her 4 children, Kevin and his wife Amber and their 3 children of Quincy, Andrew of Quincy, Amy Hogan and her husband Tim and their son of Chicago, and Brian and his wife Megan of Urbana. She is also survived by her son Philip L. Hathaway and his wife Tami and their son, Parker of Rossville. Memorial service: will be held in the Rossville United Methodist Church with burial in Rossville Cemetery. Memorials: Bradford Villa or a charity of the donor's choice. |
