Janet E. Torbeck, age 79, of 639 York, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 6:15 pm in Boone Medical Center, Columbia, MO.She was born September 9, 1927 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Leo and Dorothy Duesterhaus Deters.She was employed by Maxwell Photography and then at County Market until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church where she was active in the ladies of St. Francis. She was a member of Women of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary and the Red Hat Ladies Society. Janet was an accomplished cook and loved to bake. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing cards. She never passed up an opportunity to enjoy " games of chance". She was an avid Cardinal fan and enjoyed being with her grandchildren and attending family gatherings.Survivors include 2 daughters, Dorothy A. "Dottie" Huseman and her husband Robert, Quincy, and Susan K. "Susie" Hynes and her husband Jim, Newcastle, Washington; 2 grandchildren, Jayne Huseman, Downers Grove, IL and Ryan Huseman, Quincy ; a brother, Clarence L. Deters and his wife Mary Ellen "Mert", LaGrange, MO; a sister-in-law, Viola Deters, Quincy; an uncle, Paul Duesterhaus, Springfield, IL and an aunt, Ruth Duesterhaus, Lake St. Louis, MO; several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Deters, her parents and her close friend Lon Smith.Services will begin with prayers on Monday, January 15, 2007, at 11 am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 am in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Schaughnesey, OFM officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 3- 6pm at the funeral home with a wake service at 5:30 pm. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials made to Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center in her name would be appreciated. |
