Mary Belle Goehl , age 68, of 818 So.12th, died Monday, January 15, 2007 at 8:10 a.m. in North Adams Home.

She was born December 28, 1938 in Adams County, IL the daughter of Leslie and Mary Ellen Wear Smith.

She taught over 20 years in Quincy public schools. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church and was a lay minister for numerous years. She was formerly active in the La Moine River District U.M.W., Church Women United , and was certified by the League of Women Voters. She was also a member of A.A.U.W. and the Democratic Women's Club.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Ellen Smith of Mendon, IL; 2 daughters, Lori Bitar of Weston, FL, and Mazy Williams of Sylmar,CA; 3 grandchildren, Jordan Bitar, Ritzie James Williams and Pierson Goehl Williams; 4 brothers, James Smith of Joplin, MO, Jerry Smith of Peoria, IL, Roger Smith of Delano, MN and Terry Smith of Lorraine, IL; 2 sisters, Sharon Kay Smith of Ohio and Shirley Mae Sitrick, Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her father, a longtime friend, Karl Goldhorn, two brothers, Robert and Leslie Smith, Jr, and two husbands.

Services will be Thursday, January 18, 2007, at 6 pm in the Union United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Morwell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 6 pm at the church. Memorials made to La Moine River District U.M.W., Union United Methodist Church or Church Women United in her name would be appreciated.
