Elmer Frankel , age 87 of 213 No.Warsaw St., Ursa, IL died Friday, January 5, 2007 at 6:10 pm in Blessing Hospital.He was born November 7, 1919 in Clayton, Illinois the son of Elmer and Emma Hogan Frankel. On September 28, 1946 he married Mildred Nelson in Quincy, Illinois and just celebrated their 60th anniversary.He was a graduate of Clayton High School and was employed by CB & Q Railroad before entering the U.S. Army on January 16, 1942. He went overseas in May 1942 and was stationed in New Zealand, Fiji Islands, Guadalcanal and Empress Augusta Bay during WWII. He worked for Adams Electrical Coop as a lineman for many years. He was a former member of the Camp Point Christian Church.Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Jeanne Evans of Ursa, IL, a son, Jerry Frankel and wife Janelle of Ursa, IL; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Esther Fries and her husband William of Quincy; Ruth Hogge of Maywood, MO; Shirley Gregory and her husband John of Bethesda, MD, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one nephew Dwayne.Services will be Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 1:00 pm in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Hunsaker officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 8 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice in his name would be appreciated. |
