Esta Mardell Cook

Esta Mardell Cook, age 87 of Bickford Cottage, and formerly of 1809 N. Granview, died Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 11:20 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.

She was born May 5, 1919 in Griggsville, Illinois the daughter of Stanley W. and Hattie Lena Vaughn Northup. On July 2, 1938 she married Donald R. Cook in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1999.

She worked as a seamtress in her home, and later worked at Kirlin's at the Town and Country Shopping Center in Quincy. Mrs. Cook enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and baking. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: her daughter, Donna Rodemich and her husband, Kirk, of Quincy: two grandsons: Kirk Joseph Rodemich II and his wife, Tonya, of Quincy; and Kory Rodemich of Longmont, CO; a grandaughter, Kari Jane Craven and her husband, Rick, of Quincy; five great-grandchildren: Kolbe, Keaghan and Kameron Rodemich, and Kenzie and Konnor Ross Craven; all of Quincy; a brother, Tom Northup and his wife, Hazel, of Clovis, CA; a brother-in-law, Jack Schildt of North Adams Nursing Home; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Onezma Jane Taylor and Ella Willmetta Roush Fulner; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Keller Gosney and Frances Schildt; and four brothers-in-law: Gerald Cook, Wilbur P. Taylor, Bud Roush, and Rollie Fulner

Services will be held Thursday, January 18, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Pratt officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, January 18 from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials made to Chromosome 15 Duplication Syndrome Non-For-Profit Research or St. Louis Children's Hospital in her name would be appreciated.
