William J. Turnbow

William J. Turnbow, age 74 of 1609 Maple, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 10:17 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.

He was born April 7, 1932 in Paducah, KY the son of William Johnnie and Alberta Richards Turnbow. On August 19, 1953 he married Hazel Y. Miller in Corinth, Mississippi. She survives

He served in the Korean War from 1951-1954. During his military service he worked on Gus Grissom's F86 as Crew Chief. He was employed at Jeff Boat in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where he was a barge fabricator who aided in construction of the Mississippi Queen. He was a skilled woodworker, loved bowling and was an award winning marksman. Mr. Turnbow was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a devout and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years Hazel; 5 children, Charles Turnbow and his wife Roberta of Quincy; Ken Turnbow and his wife Rose of Jeffersonville; IN, Dean Turnbow and his wife Annette of San Antonio, TX; Patty Kirk of Quincy; and Joanna Bunch and her husband Gary of Quincy; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Penny Turnbow.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7 from 4-7 p.m. in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. There will be no services. Memorials made to Paw Pals or Quincy Humane Society in his name would be appreciated.
