Elnora Z. Woods

Elnora Z. Woods, age 96, of Sycamore Health Care Center formerly of 803 North 6th, Quincy, died Friday (Dec 7, 2007) at 2:40 a.m. in Sycamore Health Care. She was born September 25, 1911 in Ellington Twp., Illinois, the daughter of William and Emma Boyer Beckman. On August 24, 1927 she married Marvin E. "Sam" Woods in Jacksonville, IL. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1983. She was employed by Brower Manufacturing as a mailer for 25 years, and she helped her husband Sam on the farm. She was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Elnora loved to play pinochle. Survivors include a nephew whom she raised, Larry W. Beckman and his wife Winnie, Quincy; great nephew, Michael Beckman and his wife Jennifer, Colusa, IL; great great niece, Charity Beckman, Quincy, IL; several other nieces and nephews, Shirley Wellman, Lloyd Beckman, Donna Abbott, Leroy Gronewold, Betty Gronewold, Randy Beckman, Janie Mahaji, and Tim Beckman. She also was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Arthur and Garnett Beckman a nephew Maurice Beckman and a niece Vicki Beckman. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Lou Zuck officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7pm at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Vermont Street United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
