He was born July 1, 1935 in Lovington, Illinois the son of Leonard D. and Dorothy E. Lawson Williams. On May 27, 1953 he married Sara A. 'Sally' Matteson in Lovington, Illinois. She survives.

He graduated from Lovington High School in 1953 as valedictorian. He worked for Staley's in Decatur for 10 years. He worked 30 years at Moorman Manufacturing in Quincy retiring as manager for traffic operations. He was a member of the Quincy Transportation Club, the Ale and Quail Club in Quincy, and Vermont Street United Methodist Church where he was an active member. He was an active sports fan dedicated to the Cubs, Bears and local Quincy sports teams.

Survivors in addition to his wife include, his mother, Dorothy, Quincy; two daughters, Valerie Williams, Bluffton, IN and Cathy Harbourn and her husband Paul, Quincy; two grandchildren, Sara Schmidt, Quincy, and Kate Harbourn, Prague, Czech Republic; two great grandchildren, Matteson and Harrison Schmidt both of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be Saturday, December 29, 2007, at 11 a.m. in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Lou Zuck officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday, December 31 at 11:00 am in Keller Cemetery, Lovington, Illinois. Memorials made to Vermont Street United Methodist Church or Chaddock in his name would be appreciated. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
