David "Dave" A. Wand, age 47 of 2231 Locust St., died
Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 7:25 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1960 in Quincy, the son of Arthur R. and Lois
Schoonover Wand. On May 21, 1983 he married Susan Weisenborn in Quincy.
She survives.
He was a 1978 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. Dave became
involved in carpentry during high school and continued the trade after
graduation. He was employed by Fischer Builders of Quincy, Illinois. As
a skilled carpenter, he settled for nothing less than perfection. Some
of his projects included: the Maine Center, Shopko, Home Depot, QU
Friary, and the sanctuary at Madison Park Christian Church. Dave's
excellent craftsmanship may be seen throughout Quincy and the
surrounding area which will servce as a lasting reminder of his talents.
He unselfishly gave of himself to his family and friends, who
lovingly nicknamed him both "Do-It-All Dave" and "Dave the Slave". Dave
was a member of Madison Park Christian Church and participated in their
activities. He was an avid sportsman who was enthusiastic about his
hunting, fishing and outdoor activities.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: a son, Matthew; his
mother, Lois; three brothers: Michael and his wife Brenda; Stanley and
his wife Lisa ; and Thomas and his fiancee Bobbette Spencer; two
nephews: Ryan and Tyler, and a niece, Renee; all of Quincy. He was
preceded in death by his father.
Services will be Friday, January 4, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in Madison
Park Christian Church with Rev. Bruce Willard, Rev. Keith Ehresman, and
Father John Carberry officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 4 - 7
p.m. at Hansen Spear. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In Dave's
memory, the Matt Wand Education Fund has been established at Mercantile
Bank. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
