William L. Waggener, 82,
formerly of 2900 Bluff Ridge Dr., Quincy died Satruday,
December 8, 2007 at 5:15 am in Bickford Cottage, Quincy.
He was born August 12, 1925 in Round Grove, Missouri, the
son of William Taylor and Edna Iola Hutcherson Waggener.
On December 24, 1952, he married Virginia Ragar in
Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2003.
He served in the U. S. Army Artillery from April 17, 1948
to April 5, 1952 during the Korean Conflict, and he was
awarded 3 Bronze Stars.
Mr. Waggener had been employed by Quincy Soybean Company
and Kemner Furniture. From 1955 to 1956 he owned and
operated the Mobil Service Station and DX Station. For 22
years he worked for Colt Industries testing and assembling
in the machine shop. He enjoyed antiquing with his wife.
Survivors include a brother, Oney Waggener and his wife
Helen, Grays Lake, IL; 2 sisters, Betty Jean Waggener,
Mobile, AL; Joan Stout and her husband Bill, Hannibal, MO;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife,4
brothers Floyd, Lemuel, Bernard and Roy and 3 sisters
Dorothy Genenbacher, Georgia Rottman and Ruth Waggener.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm at the
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. V. Lee Amsler
officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 6 pm. Memorials made
to the American Heart Association in his name would be
appreciated. |
