| George H. Stricklin , age 88, formerly of 1705 Oak, died
Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at 4:50 a.m. at Bickford Cottage. He was
born November 12, 1919 in Cleveland, OH the son of Lerry and May Butler
Stricklin. On January 2, 1988 he married Gertrdue 'Trudy' Bockenfeld in
Quincy, Illinois.

He worked as a cartographer for the United States Civil Service
Commission until his retirement in 1970. During his retirement, he
enjoyed traveling and lived in New Mexico, Missouri, Florida, and North
Carolina. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and golf. He was
interested in the stock market and was a hobbyist investor. He was a
generous man who shared his wealth with a variety of charities,
particularily the Salvation Army, Native American Charities, and Cancer
Research Programs. He was a former member of the Elks in Waynesville,
NC.
Survivors in addition to his wife include, a daugher, Bonnie Lattig
and her husband Kent, Austin, TX; two step daughters, Carol Leckbee and
her husband Don, Bonita Springs, FL, and Donna Brothers and her husband
William, Fowler, IL; three grandchildren, Tom Lattig and his wife Carla,
Moscow, Russia, Tim Lattig and his wife Quinn, and Jennifer Lattig all
of Austin, TX; five step grandchildren, Todd Leckbee and his wife Trish,
Bonita Springs, FL, Jamie Krafick and her husband Michael, Atlanta, GA,
Troy McNay and his wife Brenda, Jeremy Sanders and his wife Alisa and
Jerad Sanders all of Quincy; and several great grandchildren and step
great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, George M. Stricklin
Jr., a step daughter, Debbie McNay, two sisters and a brother.
Services will be Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at 10 am in Hansen-Spear
Funeral Home with Chaplain Steve Disseler officiating. Visitation will
be Monday, January 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorials made to the Bickford
Cottage Memory Care Unit in his name would be appreciated. Hansen-Spear
Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
