Doris D. Stipp





Doris D. Stipp, 87, 418 Washington, and formerly of 1833 So. 30th St. died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 5:30 am in Sunset Home.

She was born November 6, 1920 in Milan, Missouri the daughter of Raymond and Susie Matkins Bartimus. She married Lloyd E. Merker on Oct. 1, 1944 in Quincy, and he preceded her in death October 19, 1973. On Sept. 1, 1975 she married Arthur F. Stipp in Quincy, and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1999.

Mrs. Stipp was a 1939 graduate of Milan, MO High School and a 1943 graduate of St. Mary School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for 20 years at St. Mary Hospital where she was Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nursing. She also worked at P & S Clinic for 6 years. Doris was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. John where she had served as Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Ladies Aide Society. She was a member of RSVP where she was an active volunteer. She had been president of Ellington School P.T.A. and secretary of St. Mary Hospital Alumnae. Doris was a member of the Great River Restaurant Association and had been secretary and treasurer. She was associated with Stipp's Restaurant for many years. She was a member of Friends of the Castle, German Village Society and Gardner Museum where she was voted Volunteer of the Year in 1995.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Janet Enroth and her husband Gary, Quincy; Carol Hillebrenner and her husband Richard, Fowler; 6 grandchildren, Tracie Gallaher and husband Jamie, Joe Hillebrenner and wife Brenda, Christine Salgado and husband Ray, Kjersti Cory and husband Nick, Erika Akers and husband Tom, Christopher Enroth, a sister, Betty Rae Shaw, Milan, MO; 3 stepdaughters, Cindy Johnson and her husband Robert, Quincy; Wendy Miller and her husband Frank; Cherrie Blickhan and her husband Dale, Quincy; 5 step grandchildren, Amy Miller, Andrew Hyslop, and Anthony Blickhan, Abigail Blickhan, and Mark Johnson; 12 great grandchildren, and nieces & nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister Carolyn.

Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11 am at the Lutheran Church of St. John, Rev. Harold Bender officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4-7pm at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of St. John or Sunset Home.
