Mary K. Shriver, age 87 of Ursa, died Friday, December
21, 2007 in Blessing Hospital.
She was born November 18, 1920 in McDonough County, Illinois t he
daughter of Jesse and Phoebe Robins Pestle. On December 31, 1941 she
married Russell Shriver in Monticello, MO. He survives.
She was a 1938 graduate of Bushnell High School and a graduate of
Western Illinois University. She taught school in McDonough County and
Ursa Grade School. She was a homemaker after her children were born and
helped her husband farm in the Ursa area. She was a member of Calvary
Baptist Church in Quincy where she taught and played the piano for
Sunday School, volunteered in the church library, and was a member of
the Missions Committee.
Survivors also include her son, Allen Shriver and wife Barbara of
Missoula, MT; 4 daughters, Gloria Dougherty of Ursa and her fiance'
Jerry Collins of Quincy, Beverly Skrak and husband Robert of Chicago,
Robin Martin and husband Bill of Ursa, and Roxie Taylor and husband
Allen of Ursa; 14 grandchildren, Anais (Gary) Brown, D. Russell Shriver,
Olivia (Scott) Low, Frank (Rachel) Bley, Jacquelyn Bley, Tim (Jeremi)
Dougherty, Rochelle (Tim) Manock, Rebecca, Jesse and Jenna Skrak, Holly
(Eric) Thompson, Mary (Mike) Giles, April (Chad) Davis, and Linda
Taylor; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Peters of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Cheryl Ann Shriver
and 3 brothers.
Services will be Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 1:30 pm in Hansen-Spear
Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Farlow officiating. Visitation will be
Wednesday evening from 4- 6 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in
New Providence Cemetery, Ursa, IL. Memorials made to 4 Star Library in
Mendon or Calvary Baptist Church Mission (Brian Dix) in her name would
be appreciated. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of
