Howard G. Salzman, age 84, of 2711 Kings Pointe, died
Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at8:40 a. m. in Blessing Hospital.
He was born October 21, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Arthur and
Libby Herzberg Salzman. On January 18, 1945 he married Adele Glassman in
Austin, Texas. She preceded him in death on September 21, 1988.
Mr. Salzman worked as a mechanical engineer at Borg Inc. in Hillside, IL
and Chicago from 1952 to 1999. He was the president of the company from
from 1971 until 1988. He was also a long standing member of the
Mechanical Contractors Association of Chicago, of which he was the
president from 1978 to 1980. Mr. Salzman was a member of Temple B'Nai
Shalom.
Mr. Salzman also tended a small farm for 30 years, from 1971 until 2001.
He enjoyed taveling and spending time with his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Bruce J. Salzman of Quincy; three
grandchildren: Timothy Salzman and his wife Christina of Ballwin, MO;
Shari Patton and her husband Kevin of Fenton, MO; and Jason Salzman and
his wife Allison of Swansea, IL; four great-grandchildren: Olivia, John,
and Julia Salzman of Ballwin, MO, and Cooper Patton of Fenton, MO.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a
brother Charles.
Services will be Friday, December 14, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Piser Chapel,
Skokie, Illinois. The family will receive calls of condolence at Skokie
Holiday Inn, 5300 Touhy Ave., Skokie, Illinois on Friday from 5-8 p.m.,
Saturday from 3-8 p.m. and Sunday from 12-3 p.m. Contributions made to
the National Children's Cancer Society in his name would be appreciated.
