Dan S. Hickman, age 54 of Payson, IL died Wednesday,
December 5, 2007 at 9:20 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.
He was born December 12, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio the son of Seymoure and
Laverne Hickman. On June 30, 1973 he married Kimberly Ceil Potter in
Columbus, Ohio. She survives.
He was a 1970 graduate of Reynoldsburg High School and attended The
University of Kentucky for one year. He then earned a Bachelors degree
in 1976 from The Ohio State University and continued his education by
earning a Masters Degree in Animal Nutrition from his alma mater in
1978. He worked as a Research Scientist at ADM Alliance Nutrition in
Quincy, IL.
He enjoyed farming, golfing, and was a member of The Crossing Church.
Dan's greatest love was for his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, survivors include, eight sons: Dan Hickman Jr.
and his wife, Marcy, of Tuckahoe, New York; Travis Hickman and his wife
Kristin, of Fort Wayne, IN; Justin Hickman and his wife Pam, of Liberty,
IL; Benjamin Hickman and his wife Jasena of Quincy, IL; Tim Hickman of
Quincy, IL; and Tyler Hickman, Jordan Hickman, and Christopher Hickman
of Payson, IL. He is also survived by three daughters: Mariah Weyand and
her husband J.C., of Hull, IL; and Brienne Hickman and Olivia Hickman of
Payson, IL; as well as five grandchildren: Shane Hickman, Kaylie
Hickman, Hannah Hickman, Jacob Hickman, Abigail Hickman, and Gabriel
Hickman. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Columbus
Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Basil Bevans officiating. Visitation
will be Friday, December 7 from 4-7 p.m. at the Hansen-Spear Funeral
Home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Quincy, IL. Hansen-Spear
Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
